Asthma is a chronic disease of the lungs causing inflammation and narrowing of the airway, making it hard to breathe. It is one of the most common long-term diseases in children. Approximately 25 million Americans suffering with asthma today, with 5.1 million of them being children. The burden of asthma in the US falls disproportionately on Black, Hispanic and American Indian/Alaska Native People.
